Hey Gang!

My Potters angel was fine the first week I had him in the display tank. Nice and vibrant blue and yellows. Now, a week or two later, he has alot of gray on his sides. His tail and fins are still nice and vibrant blue, but his body is quite gray. Any ideas what could cause this? Did a water test (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, ph and salinity) and everything is normal.

Thanks!

A picture will definitely help...

Does it look like the color is faded, or is the gray patchy? Is it fuzzy or just look discolored? Any other symptoms ie. scratching, swimming into powerheads, hiding from light, yawning/headshaking, white-stringy poop, etc?

There's a few things wrong here. First, in order to receive a level of response that's going to get you an answer, you will need to post a picture. Does a doctor diagnose without seeing a patient? Next, stating that everything is normal is an oxymoron considering "normal" for one person will vary. You'll need to post ALL of your parameters in conjunction with a picture.

The second set of photos are better, I can see the faded areas. It doesn't look to me like an infection, and without any other symptoms to go by it's hard to say whether or not there is a parasite of some sort at play.

So, I think I would start by addressing anything that might be missing from it's diet. What about algae? My potter's devours red and green algae sheets. Do you soak any of his frozen foods in vita-chem or selcon or similar?

Potter's do have dark "lines" on both sides of their body underneath the patterning. Here's a link for comparison:
http://tropicalfishandaquariums.com...mall/potters-angelfish-centropyge-potteri.php

As they mature, they get much darker towards the back of their body and tail. He wouldn't mature in a couple of weeks though, it would be over time. I'm thinking the fading is probably dietary, hopefully adding algae and vitamins will help him color back up. If he starts with any other symptoms though, let us know!
