PPBlimpy's S1000 downsize / upgrade

What does 100% 41k look
This is my 10k 400 watt with 2 edge 14k bars at 75%.
The bars are 24" the tank is 36"×36". You can see some yellowing in the corners but its not bad.

Second is at 110%

Not super noticeable in the photos but a big difference by the eye

Full tank shot - still in mock up, need to modify canopy- about 20% of the reflector is blocked by the canopy.
I will modify canopy and mount the reflectors and remove the ballasts from the fixture and mount them out of sight.

Will get some glass to cover the opening to protect from splashes. Unicorn tang loves splashing.

Will space the glass down 1/4” for air flow and will mount the reflector 1/4” above the canopy.

Also has 2 more openings that I am thinking about mounting some large fans to move air.

Not sure what direction. Blow down onto the water or pull air from the water surface and push towards the ceiling.

What do you think?

More progress.

Been a long weekend. Let me start by saying I hate doing water changes. Would like to do 50g bi-weekly but tend to be every 5-6 weeks because it’s a pain. Anyways…

Been Cleaning up the basement and relocated my mixing station and kalk storage from our laundry room to basement.

I am Making an extra long Aquabus cable and relocating both my Dos and another eb832 down here to monitor and control it.

Ran 4 RO lines from mixing station to tank thru the crawl space.

Plans are daily 3g AWC to start with, ATO directly off RO storage and Kalk dosing off 50g Kalk storage.

Will ad a PM2 eventually with salinity and temp probes to monitor mixed saltwater barrel. Maybe IO module if I decide I need float switches. Optical sensors for empty and full. Solenoid valve inline of my Rodi so I can have the Rodi turn on when the RO drum gets low.

The dream will be to only have to go dump salt and kalk in every 2 weeks and change filters on the RO when needed.

The other positive is I get to remove the ATO reservoir (5g bucket) and gallon container for Kalk, plus 2 dos from under my stand. Will allow me room to install my chiller if I need since I just went back to halides.

Appreciate you all reading my rambling.
Does the plan sound reasonable?

Still Waiting on 10k bulbs and actinic led bars to arrive. Still need to hang and modify the canopy to properly fit the halides and remote mount the ballasts.

Maybe I will actually be able to close all my cabinet doors soon

Got my water surface skimmers for the sump finally printed and working well.

No more crap on the surface of the water.

Finished running the RO lines and cat5 cable thru the crawl space.

Need to order the replacement fitting for one of the heads on my dos. And convert to the quick release fittings.

Next order of business is running a 3/8 line thru the same baseboard as the RO lines and outside to pull fresh air for the skimmer. Once that is done I will be done climbing under the house for a bit.
Do have a project of running 3/4 pex to ad to spigots on the front side of the house but that is not a fish related project

Also my skimmer is acting up. Need to pull it and clean it. Bringing home a load of goodies tonight.

Do yourself a favor and run 1/2" line outside. Better to have more and not need it than need more and not have it. Plus, you can use PVC for the run.

I could do that. Already drilling holes thru the wall what is one size bigger?

Well crap. I think my tank just popped the circuit.

Fusion isn't coming up and neither is my wyze camera. Work an hour away, wife is out of state. Tank gets to sit for the next 4 hours. ooops

I knew adding the halides may push the circuit, was pretty sure i was dancing on that line. Haven't had time to run another dedicated line. Guess I am doing that pretty soon. Will drop down to only 2 halides for a bit.

Not entirely sure but my 3d printer may be on the same circuit, if so I just lost a a 26hr print 😩 and probably what pushed it over the edge.

I sure hope you weren't 25 hours into the print.

Running new circuits should be easy enough in your basement.

About 20hrs.

It won’t be hard. Box is only about 20ft away on the other side of the wall
You have a way of making posts that require more than one emoji. 😉

Yea yea. Well good new. Didn’t pop the circuit but did pop a surge protector. Not seeing any water splash so I am going to redo some of this hodge podge mess of wiring.

Printer is still printing. Print is at 24 hours
The print is one the sides to my ATS I am playing with

Might consider replacing the surge protector if it goes again. Could be a fluke though.

In all my spare time I am going to start building a new aquascape. Picked up 200 lbs of rock last night and 4 bars of epoxy. Couple really large flat shelf pieces. I will setup the 54G corner tank I got last night in the basement to cure the rock and seed with rock from my tank. Will do in 3 sections maybe. going to get away from the caveman stacked rock scape.

Also going thru things in the haul I brought home last night and found 2x FMM ATO systems, 2x PM1 ph/orp, a NIB neptune PH probe, a PM2 with a new heater probe and conductivity probe, and a second EB832.

So now I can monitor my WC station fully, salinity and temp and monitor the PH on my Kalk storage for potency.
I feel like I am manifesting everything I need. Now if I just find a Trident I would be golden!!

I am always on the look out. Only way I can afford this hobby. I did promise the wife this was the last one. Luckily I think I have everything I really want/need other then automated testing. Which I am hoping to trade some of this for.

But I did warn her that this will get a lot more expensive. She claims my time is expensive also. Little does she know what this hobby really costs!
