Hello all I just purchased a Reef Octopus Regal 150-INT and I was wondering the proper height that the skimmer should sit in the tank. The instructions says between 6” & 8”. The vent that drains the water back into the sump has a hole on the top. Which I’m assuming has to stay above the water level but which makes the skimmer loud. Can I have that vent/drain stay under the dumps water level or is it important to keep it above the water line.

The outlet does not have to be above the waterline. I don’t know what hole/vent you are talking about though

I agree with above. It took me a couple weeks to tune my skimmer. Many overflows in the process. Every skimmer seems to be a little different even if same model/brand. Very small differences in water parameters, specifically SG effect how a skimmer will react in ones system.
