are there purpleXpurple captive breds available? Have missed that? or is there something special about yellows that facilitate breeding?
Biota has been breeding purpleXpurple tangs for a while now in addition to the yellowXyellow tangs.

Since 2020 it seams but where are they selling them?
I've seen them offered through AlgaeBarn and directly through Biota, I think.
I have not searched a lot since I am not looking to get one right now, but have seen them in passing while checking for other livestock.

While that is true, with these two fish endemic to opposite sides of the world, it wouldn't happen in this case.
Haven't you ever seen Finding Nemo? Nemo makes it all the way from Sydney... to Sydney, oh wait. Nvm.

I'll go back to my corner, after I steal that "wat" pic

It's a juvenile. Juvi yellow tangs are very pale as well.
I know they want to build hype and marketing for the captive bred fish, but waiting until you have one that's fully colored or mostly colored would be much better.

Personally, I see no problem with hybrid reef fish. In the case of freshwater and cichlids, they are bad because they can cross with purebred fish, creating more hybrids and messing with the gene pool. However, no one is going to be breeding tangs in their basement, so I don't think we have to worry. These in particular don't look too bad, and if the price would be reasonable, I'd pick one up in a heartbeat.

Ive seen a few people that were lucky enough to get one from the first batch. They are really cool but im still waiting to see an adult before id be sold on one. I am surprised to see so many complaints about the color though. This is still a juvenile and the color might change drastically... but it might also stay the same. Either way this is another great leap for the hobby, the more fish we have available through breeding the better. Plus im sure there was plenty of valuable information gained from crossing these guys that could lead to some other interesting hybrids.

Crossbreeding happens commonly in nature as well. It's part of speciation
They do not share a common range. Separated by 10000 km in nature... this is unnatural... I keep thinking jurassic park when I see these kinds of things...
