Quanta Atlas and Helix

The Atlas lights put to shame my 6 Gen 6 XR30's growth and color. If you are a Windex reef lover, the Atlas are not for you. I can't stand Windex reefs, so that's one reason I love my Atlas.

By far the best lights I've ever had. I run 9 Atlas and 8 Meso Blue Helix on my systems, my last lights ever, as far as I can tell now.
dang. Part of me wanted to hear this, part of me didn't LOL

I love my Reefi Uno's, very powerful as well but I'm just sick of messing around with spectrum. I've been reefing since 2004 so I'm no newbie. I just bought a Waterbox 230.6 last weekend. Hense the idea of switching lights. I had the Halide Power compact combo back in the day but I have fallen in love with the blue reef. I'm still VERY enticed by the Atlas.

I have some incredible growth especially my Acro colonies I just don't get the color out of them I know I should. I dose trace and minor, aminos, live Phyto & ICP regularly. It's definitely not a matter of them not getting enough in that aspect. I really think it's spectrum. The only other thing it could be is high lithium. Which I'm working on to lower now.

I really wanna give the Atlas a try but I don't wanna hate them. How long do you run your Atlas in your day? I run 12 hour lighting. Helix all 12, Reefis for the 10 in between. I was thinking possibly 6 hours for the Atlas and 12 still for the Helix so I, didn't have to see the "brown" reef but Idk if this is enough light for the corals.

I run my Atlas for 8hrs, meso blues 12hrs. Quanta lights are very heavy in the violet spectrum, which I think really helps to color things up. For acropora, full spectrum is a must. This is why you see certain vendors who specialize in acropora and run LEDs use all channel at 100%. And if you’re a fish person, all blues suck.

With the Atlas.. do you still get a bit of "pop" .. stated another way.. the Walt Disney and similar sps look good under more blueish lights and need to pop.. just my thoughts.. they do not look so great without that UV helping them out..

There’s no “pop” with the Atlas, but if you combine it with the meso blue there will be plenty, mostly when the Atlas is off. It’s based on a 14k halide spectrum, so if you’ve never used halides, it might be a little different for you. It renders color rather well, so when you use just the blue/UV light, you’ll see all of that wonderful pop. When my Atlas is off, the meso blues make the whole tank pop.
