I'm getting ready to purchase my first Bubble Tip Anemone and I just need to know how to get through the quarantine process. My DT has been running for over a year now, I have sufficient lighting and even a protein skimmer so I think my parameters should be good enough. I'm just not sure how to go about the quarantine process due to having a completely new, unstable tank with different lighting. Should I just use DT tank water and would that offer enough stability I still have a different lighting setup. I'm just not sure how much initial abuse a BTA can take that I should be worried about before going through with it.

Personally, I have never quarantined anemones because there is basically nothing that can hitchhike into your tank on the anemone itself. Totally cool if you want to though, just make sure there is substantial established biological media in the quarantine if you plan on throwing something in there very soon. Or you could add a small rock from your established tank and let that sit with some new rock in the tank for a few months.

BTA's carry water, which can always have parasites, protazoans, etc... free swimming stuff, etc... contained in it.

At the very least, I would put it in a bucket of fresh saltwater and wait for it to expel its old water and fill up with new water, before putting it in your tank.

I put some media from my DT into the tank and it's been running for a few days or so. It's only 16 days so I just hope it's not too bad but think it's ok to start the process?

I'd think so but honestly I don't know for sure. I only know about the suggested time frames, I've never personally quarantined an anemone. When I do, I have an established tank that has been running for a couple months now. I'd say keep the water parameters as stable as possible and I have seen people suggest not feeding them for a couple weeks while they acclimate. That should help with the parameters. If you are nervous about it, you could toss in some bottle bacteria to help jump start it. I don't know if it is necessary though. Maybe someone with more experience about jump starting a QT, can chime in.

Hello everyone I have a Green Bubble tip Anemone in a fully cycled quarantine tank and it looks like it’s doing excellent. But I Do have some questions?? I ordered an apogee MQ 510 and checked the par in the quarantine tank where the anemone is currently at and it was only about 30 par and 60 par in some of the spots he was stretched out to. There are spots in the tank of 250 par that are easy for it to get to but it moved to this spot the day after i bought it and has stayed there sense. So I have a couple questions about this quarantine process as I am in day 3 of quarantine.

1. How long should I wait to feed the anemone in the quarantine tank? I really need to know this because I keep reading that u shouldn’t feed for the first week?

2. should I turn my lights up to force the anemone to a higher par of lighting or let it move to an area in the tank of higher par on its own?
(Also he was in under very low par lighting at the LFS for about a month)
