Question about apex salinity probe

Is is normal to have the salinity value show so much variability. It seems to oscillate in correlation the temperature changes

Mine does the same thing . Depends on time of day. Lighting ect.

I bet that is part of the issue. My PM2 disconnected last night so I don't have much of a graph right now, but here is one that shows when I hooked up my ATO. The dips don't correlate to my heater which is about 18" away. Also, my temp probe wasn't connected to the PM2 at that time, so the salinity isn't temperature compensated.

Did you hook your temp probe up to the PM2 module and temp calibrate the conductivity probe?

Look at your Salinity. Aren't you running kind of high. Recommended Salinity is a target of 35

Conductivity does change a lot with temperature, and all devices should be automatically correcting the reading to a 25 deg C equivalent.

Perhaps yours is not presently doing that correctly.

Well according to my hydrometer and refractometer the salinity is 1.025. I have calibrated the salinity probe several time but it is reading high. Also of interest is that it does read my ro water at 0. Any thoughts?

Ok I can do this. What do I set the calibration standard too on the apex?

Your hydrometer is a reference. My hydrometer is ..003 off.

OK I found this. Do I leave the temp probe connected to the pm2 module? If I do does the controller still display the temperature?

If you only have one temp probe, you can just move it from the base module. You just have to fix your APEX Fusion dashboard to start tracking the new probe name. Mine went from TEMP to TMPX4

Yes, you will have to leave it there.

IMO, it would be better to calibrate with a true 35 ppt standard rather than assuming some other measurement of the tank water is accurate. :)
