Question for @saltwaterguruneeded

If you have corals, yes. But it's not mandatory, especially if you only have fish. It's definitely a good piece of equipment to have. However, just like in my situation, it can come in handy even if you don't have corals. Mostly depends on how involved you are and how much money you have. Some people have some good skills and can run a reef without any filters. I believe you need to have a really mature tank for that though.

The only bad thing is, some of the skimmers on the market can be loud and annoying, which mine was but I modified mine to be quiet. In doing that, I have to manually start the skimmer motor because of it. If your going to get one, make sure you do your research. Get one with a good reputation.

In short, yes I would recommend a skimmer if you can afford to purchase one.

Excellent. I saw the way your skimmer cleared your bacterial bloom! That’s crazy! I never knew they could do that!
Yeah, it's kinda impressive. I thought when the bloom was happening "the skimmer pulls out organics so why not try it out"
