Quick plumbing question...

Hi, This a planet 85g aquarium I got form a local reefer. Not sure how he setup the plumbing. So the picture shows the return plumbing as you see there. So I was going to put a Tee on the return line and have one line going to pipe #1 and the other going to chiller which then would feed back into line #2 as the picture shows. Would this work ok or should I cut the connection between the 2 returns (in between #1 and @2) and run them as 2 independent lines. One going directly back to tank from return and other coming from chiller outlet and going directly back into tank on the other side near #2. Hope that makes sense. Don't know if I'm over analizing this. TIA!!

Thanks for your reply. Yes I was thinking 2 independent lines would be better.
