Just put (2) 250w Radiums over my tank and saaaaaawweeeeettt!

I love them they are awesome!!

Should I acclimate my corals to them? I had Hamilton 14ks over them for 9 months.

I'll get some pics shortly!

just put one sheet of screen over them just in case.. IME, newer bulbs are much brighter than older bulbs so corals might need just a little bit of acclimation time... maybe 2-3 days will suffice...

Radiums are the bombdigitty!!!! :D

I love Radiums as well. It's gotta be the BEST 20K bulb on the market.

been using them for 8 years now. used to be by far the hardest bulb to find since there orginal intent was not for the aquarium trade. Just turns out they work great for our tanks. They were originaly made for glass manufacturers in germany that made the glass for subs. somthing about the way it would show inperfections better then regular bulbs.

great par for a 20k bulb. The color you get from your corals is nothing short is spectacular. The only con is the price and life span.

to get the very best numbers out of this buld magnetic ballast are the only way to go. the have a different color and lower par number when run on electronic

I LOVE mine as well very sweet color - the corals just POP under these bulbs. I would agree to aclimate for atleast a few days maybe even a week or so to be safe. I have been surprised at how intense they are for a 20k bulb.

I have not heard that about magnetic ballast. One of our local guys tried to run the bulb on magnetic ballast and they wouldnt fire correctly - flickered and went out. From what he learned you have to run electronic ballast to fire them. What type of magnetic ballast are you running?? What type of ballast are you running Dave??

In order to run them you need either an M80 HQI ballast or an electronic ballast. I like the bluer look so I decided to use electronics.

I must admit, I'm not sure I'll get Radiums again (mine are 250W on HQI). When I moved a frag down to my frag tank, which has a 14K Hamilton DE, I definitely got more of a pop in color. Not sure if it was just the specific color of the bulb or not, but overall, I'm not yet sold on getting another set.
