Some species are just touchy and stress easily, regardless of what we do. I've never had luck with potters angels. I could get them through QT and they would do very well in my DT for long periods of time. One even lasted two years and bam, dead with no signs of anything. Correct temp, plenty of live rock and algae to graze, eating everything including nori, fat, great color.....dead. I'm going to try again soon, fingers crossed.

I don't know if this was asked already, but: What exactly killed your other fish in the display?

Can you describe exactly how you did this? How many times/when did you dose prazi during the 10 day period, what were the dosage amounts, when did you do the WC, etc.?

March 1 started QT in a 10 gallon tank with a HOB filter 50 gallon sized removing carbon added Dr Tims. March 2 fresh water dipped fish and put in half teaspoon of prazi and fish. March 4 water change. March 6 Second dose of 1/2 teaspoon of Prazi. March 10 water change. March 11 wrasse died. Each water change I added a half cap of Dr Tims. Used RO/DI water from home.

Now I feel even worse. Even with the water change? I thought it was 5 -7 days?

It is, but 5 days would be the soonest before you'd want to redose. Your March 2 - March 6 treatments only allowed 4 days to pass in-between.

Timing is important because the reason for the second dose is to eradicate the “next generation” of worms before they can lay eggs of their own. Because while Prazi does kill worms, it doesn’t eliminate any eggs they might leave behind.

If you redose too soon, you risk not wiping out all of the hatchlings.

So the water change has no effect on the timing? My wrasse was still alive four days afterwards. Do you think that would be enough to kill him?

The water change only removes some of the dead flukes and their toxins before redosing.

Most fish are able to tolerate flukes so long as the infestation remains light. The real danger is from a secondary infection developing from all those tiny bite marks. That can kill quick. :eek:
