Hey gang could use a hand. I grabbed a nice red goniopora frag from my lfs about two weeks ago. He was healthy and fully extended in the store, place halfway in the tank. I brought him home and put it in a spot with similar lighting and flow. He still has yet to open up fully. I moved him over yesterday into a spot with slightly more light he looks a little happier but I just wanna kill this thing it’s expensive. I have other gonis around the same area and they are happy as can be.

How close are your water parameters to your LFS’ water parameters?
To be fair, I always make my own water. Today was the first day I ever got water from my LFS because my salt still has about a week until it’s delivered. I didn’t test it before though. I tested it after and adjusted what needed to be adjusted. Not the best way to do it but I had nitrite in the water and though it wasn’t bothering my corals yet, it bothered me.

I’m actually not sure how close they are to my lfs parameters. My parameters are all good though. I just tested yesterday dkh 9 calcium 450 mag 1250. Nitrate pretty low. I should add the second Goni in the photo that’s fully extended was added two or three days ago and is doing super well

But your existing Goni is used to your water/light parameters. New Goni has to adapt.

Nitrate needs to stay in the slot 5-15ppm and phosphate to 0.07-.1ppm.
Balanced nutrient availability is as important as calcifiers, not to say your is not, only that it was not posted.

Actually other way around. The fully extended Goni is the new Goni. The unhappy red goni has been there for like two weeks
