Red Sea coral pro

So my Red Sea pro kit expires this month. Just did a manual test and my tests are as follows.

alk 8.5
Cal 610
Mag 2400

I’m not trusting these numbers and I do think my tests are bad. I have a goegonia that is getting some tissue loss but I believe this is more related to flow. I also have a strawberry shortcake, a hammer, torch flowerpot, cloves and 3 nems. Everyone is happy with the exception of my goegonia that is losing tissue. There is no way everyone would be this happy with that high of mag correct?

Hi!

A few details that need clarification first.

- Are you testing your tanks water?
Or fresh mixed batch of red sea coral pro salt?

- Was the bucket mixed when recieved to negate settling and rehomogenize?

- Are you 100% positive your salinity is accurate as a baseline for everything else?
this is one of the most common issues for inaccurate parameters.

I would buy some new test kits. Red sea or salifert and re test.

Also, ensure you are using a properly calibrated salinity measuring tool.

It is my tanks water. So doesn’t that mean with that high of magnesium all my coral listed above would be dead? And my nems?

I do not remix. Settling has been tested, and it has been proven to be a myth

I don’t generally touch my tank water unless my parameters are off but since they’re off, I did test it last night. I used a freshly zeroed Milwaukee tester, and I verified it with a tropic marin floating hydrometer. When I do temperature correction, I use an instant read meat thermometer that is accurate up to half a degree.

Did you do the mag test only once, or did you get the same result 2 or 3 times in a row?

Cool so your salinity is dead on if you are using the tropic marin hydrometer!

Buy some new test kits. I prefer salifert for alk cal and mag and red sea pro for ULR nitrate and phosphate. Salifert works ok for 5ppm+ nitrate.

I use the Hannah all in one marine tester for everything but cal and mag.
