Hello all. I am in need of help from someone who has a Red Sea Max S tank set up. There is the "ledge" frame that runs along the inside of the tank along the top. I found in the instructions that the water level should be below that ledge, however, I cannot adjust mine to be that way and as a result it slowly leaks at the top of the corners. I assume this isn't an actual leak, but is doing so only because the water level is above that ledge. When I adjust the valve to lower the water level in the tank, it gets too low for that overflow "box" (not sure what they call it) and the gurgling noise is insanely loud. The only time I have had it work (water level under the ledge) is when I took both circulation pumps out of the back chamber for cleaning, but I need the added flow from those two pumps, so when I put them back in, the water level rises too high again and goes over that ledge. How in the world do you get these tanks adjusted properly! Thanks.

Do you have the older S series with the t5 or the newer one with the LED lights? Reason I ask is they changed the height in the newer V2 weirs and they are slightly higher. The general answer is you need to adjust the flow rate in your return pump in conjunction with the diaphragm valve on the back of the return line. Those two things are responsible for the water height and noise level.

I have an older t5 version and what I did was plumb in a gate valve below in the cabinet and just leave the diaphragm valve wide open. Some have great luck with the stock valve but mine was always a pain. I also had a few broken weirs in the tank so I replaced mine but could only find the newer v2 versions and they don’t match the older one. For now I have 3 new (higher water level) ones and two older ones. The older ones are under water most of the time, the newer ones are barely a trickle right at the water line however the slightest change in my water level and they go dry. So every time I do a water change I have to readjust.
