Red Turf Algae on Trochus snail? Will it spread?

My tank is pretty new, If this is red turf algae will it spread from the snail? What should I do to get rid of it?

I've seen a couple of posts like this pop up as articles recently - it looks like they've made it so anyone can post articles without getting them approved by the mods now (I don't know if that's intentional or not).


Anyway, welcome to Reef2Reef, Pichu!

I can't say for sure, but I'd guess there's a good chance the algae could spread from the snail to the tank, yes. Most people would probably suggest carefully cleaning the algae off the snail in a container of tank water and rinsing it off after before adding it to the tank.

No it won't spread because you take Mr. Snail out and scrub him down with a tooth brush.
