Money. There is absolutely no way that they're going to pay to move a "recalled" tank, so they would have to make you promise to destroy it, but then they would have to pay to ship a replacement tank. If they did this, it would bankrupt them for sure.

I'm sorry you're stuck with a tank that you will always have to worry about.
Sigh, why did I try to save money. I should've just got a reef savvy tank like I initially wanted :(

I assumed it was related to the unsupported front pane.

I think a lot of us did until it was realized multiple manufacturers use the same design and don't have the failures. Then the stand upgrades didn't fix it either. Lastly, the G2 and G2+ started showing up as well with the same failure in the same spot.

There is a German forum where they concluded it was the silicone. I believe they tested the silicone in some form and found it didn't properly bond to the glass.

You would think RS would share what they found in an attempt to rebuild trust with the gen3? Not sharing kinda implies they either don’t know or don’t want to say. In either case who would want to buy a new one?

If they acknowledge the issues, does that admit responsibility and implicate them in anything? Do they have to perform a recall at that point?

Admitting there is a problem likely sinks the brand.

Surprised insurance companies aren’t
Not red sea but I've been through a tank failure insurance claim years back and was told if the tank leaked (seam failure) it was not eligible for coverage. The adjuster went on to say if it broke (damage from kids etc) is was eligible.

This is my gen 1 reefer 170 that had a seam failure at the top right corner.
