I was looking at the Tideline all in one. It only comes that deep and it seems easier with no sump to deal with. I don’t really know. It’s just what my local store recommended

Ive been doing this on and off for 30 years and I'm on my 8th reef tank. You're thinking about a very powerful premium light and a less than optimum set up. I don't know anything about Tideline but make sure it'll fit a good skimmer, which you're going to need since you have SPS plans. A sump is actually much easier after it's set up, but there's got to be a taller AIO tank out there if that's what you want. Read up on how light shock can kill your corals. You being a beginner with a shallow tank and powerful light is a risky combo.

His tank looks like 24" high, yours is 16". Big difference. You are going to have difficulty doing a mixed reef within just 16". Why not just get a taller tank? The more water volume the better.

My tanks 20” high, and I run a 4” sandbed, so that’s 16” of water

This isn’t halide, it’s an adjustable led. It’s incorrect to assume the light is too powerful and he will light shock the corals. You just adjust to whatever par you need. 16 inch isn’t that shallow. And, if they wanted to you can go +/- 100 par from lens swap but the included one will be fine

Dude, you don't have a Meridian, I do and I have a Par Meter. 16" isn't shallow? Really? Are you in the retail business? I ask because your "reef" is a coral display tank, not a reef. The guy is a beginner without a par meter, a shallow tank, and a light you nor he has any experience with.

Ok. You know me better than me. And my multiple tanks. And my multiple fixtures. And my history of tanks over the years. And my experience with RB and being and early adopter of them when they first came to market. And then fact that the photon v1s output more par than anything RB has put to market in the last 10 years. And that I ran a photon 32v1, their highest power fixture ever, 9” over a 40 breeder. And a photon 48v1 over this same 75g tank for 7 years. And the v1’s were par cannons yet they ran reefs just fine. All you do is dial back so I suggest you get off your pedestal and start offering useful advice instead of criticizing others in some weak attempt to make a point that isn’t a point at all. “Flat reef” “coral display” what’s it matter what you define as a reef? Nobody cares.

Par meter is 120$ on Amazon. Whose to say op isn’t going to get one. Or they can borrow mine

My racks are growout for another build I have going on. There’s a “real reef” behind them

Oh yea. You definitely need a skimmer to keep sps…you’re right about that also. Right along with your misidentification of my 75 as a 90.

No skimmer. No socks or fleece roller. And no water changes. Guess I can’t grow sps

Can’t wait for him to come back and say some comment about how you don’t have a real reef and then gives it some self made label he comes up with.

X-37b has a “flat reef” so his opinion and advice do not matter.

anyone know if a single 24 would cover a 36”Lx20W . This is going to be a Lps tank so i don’t need super high par, just nice coloring?

Yes a Meridian 24 is perfect for a standard 36” tank as long as it is no wider than 24” front to back.

Fixing to set up a new 48x18 tank. Looking at the 39” light. Thoughts? Will this one light work to grow sps? How hard are they to set up?

Meridian 35 is perfect for you. Provided there are no center bracing to block the light.

The setup is extremely easy, I have had people that hate apps come back and tell me they are glad they switched because ours is so easy to program.

Yeah without a doubt. You could probably do a single fixture and a bar or two.

If the power matches or exceeded the photon v2pros then 1 fixture wouldn't be an issue you just have a little more shadowing. I run a single v2pro 48" fixture over my 120 4'x2'x2' and grow sps from top to bottom. Ill for sure be putting meridians over my next set up.

Just picked up a Meridian Edge 12” blue/UV for a little boost of light above my frag rack. Wow what a beast. You can feel the heat from the diodes intensity a foot below the fixture! Really nice quality for the price.

Got them up today, Was late to work because I kept on staring at the tank. Worth.

I don’t have any other lights to compare to except for the pop bloom lol, but wow, it’s beautiful in person.

Haven’t gotten the time to fully play with the settings, but was hoping the app has an acclimation mode or something. Or a global dimming when I have my hue ratios in.

Overall, I love it. Well worth the wait :)
Plan on adding two Edges for more balanced daylight and to give that shaded look to the canopy in front.

Looks sweet! Question: How wide is your tank?! I am also considering the Meridian 45 and my tank is 59” which should technically work but is on the drive coverage. I will likely supplement with one or two Edge at some point.

59" is perfect; this tank is a CADE 1500 S2, also 59". The Merdian 45's is exactly what you want <3
