Tank laying barren with the following updates...

1. RO unit arrived with some fittings broken, unable to fill cycle tank. Awaiting for replacement fittings to arrive to start.
2. Plumbing parts yet to arrive (a) to modify my Reefer plumbing, (b) to build my ATO/AWC reservoirs and (c) to start my DIY ATS.
3. Got a used TECO 500 chiller with SKIMZ QP4 DC feed pump, surprisingly quiet.
4. #CLEARVIEW lid dimension issue resolved promptly. highly responsible company!
5. Going with the NEPTUNE SYSTEMS 1LINK (2WAV & 1DOS) combination instead of the NERO & VERSA.

So... still some way to go before wetting the tank.

Even before adding water, my equipments are evolving.

Chiller isn't on the top of my mind at least untill the introduction of corals 3-6 months further down the road, but an offer came along that I couldn't resist.

Being an equipment junkie, the inclusion of the OZONE 50-100mg/h and ALKATRONIC are also in the pipeline.

My sump shall be organised as follows...

Bulk if not all of my overflow drain volume goes directly into ATS repurpose from the stock REEFER ATO tank.

NOT running filter socks or fleece rollers, but filling 4 x filter cups with SEACHEM MATRIX. As and when required, to place filter floss over the MATRIX for fine particulate removal.

BRIGHTWELL XPORT BIO BRICK will be used to raise my NYOS 160 Skimmer to the recommended 8" water level.

SERA SIPORAX will be sprinkled sparingly in the skimmer/overflow chamber.

Inspired by the TRITON method, water from my Skimmer chamber will pass under the baffle NOT over into the next chamber...the refugium.

With the upstream ATS, the refugium is repurposed as (a) frag acclimation area, (b) fish "time out" area and (c) pod hotel, thus keeping the display away from these "distractions".

Lastly the chamber will housed (a) the COR20 to facilitate the proper flow (1500LPH) to DELTEC UV 80W before returning the water to the display and (b) the SKIMZ QP4 DC pump to the TECO 500 chiller.

This is my plan to be executed in due time.

Work took over... tank took a back seat. Working on my RO system and plumbing to the tank now. Should see some updates late OCT. Cheers!

Finally, muster time and guts to dismantle the stock drain and return pipes from the REEFER 500 with a heat gun and needle nose pliers. Results are great, easily converted metrics to imperial with BRS pipe adaptors!

Also my CLEARVIEW LID is finally of the right dimensions, short of splicing in the net myself. Must say good response from the team at CLEARVIEW all these while. The fit is perfect!

For Reefer 500P owners, do note that the CLEARVIEW overflow cutouts are INCORRECT with huge gaps, please provide your dimensions to them to avoid disappointments, especially after their long production time. The top piece is the replacement piece I got from them.

Another heads up, CLEARVIEW’s earlier stock width for REEFER 500P is 5mm short, but has since resolved I think, as fellow #Shaka_Reefer REEFER 500P recent delivered CLEARVIEW lid has shown.

Today, managed to put some 51mm holes in the compartments and floors, perfect fit for NEAT AQUATICS GROMMETS from BRS.

Nice build. Appears you are putting the tank against a glass wall with stairs going down under? Great location - unique. Doing a Reefer 900 right now myself. Will follow along!

Thanks for reading!

The tank is on the raised (maisonette) level, with the storage level on the ground. Being next to the glass wall, gives a nice glow to staircase, especially the lower storage area is mostly dark.

The holes I had placed in the cabinet floor are for the chiller, RO, ATO, etc. anything that’s can’t fit into the tight sump area.

For sure, it’s taking longer than I would like it

Excited to see how this turns out. I tried to get a Red Sea Reefer but the one I wanted was sold out. I ended up with a Waterbox 130.4. I also am waiting for my Lid from Clearview, I’m getting rather impatient with that.

Just hope that they give you the right one after the long wait. The lid is spectacular though!

I hope so. I got cut outs for wires and a large feed door. I can’t wait to get rid of this piece of crap Red Sea lid.
