Hey everyone!

This build thread will be documenting my Waterbox 20 build. Hopefully people planning a similar build can get some ideas or even inspiration from my build. I know Reef2Reef build threads inspired me.

If you have questions let me know.

First things first, the custom built stand. I like the look and footprint of the Waterbox Stand but I wanted something out of 3/4” plywood and I wanted the top to match my custom entertainment wall/built-in that I made last year. I also wanted to be able to attach a custom mount for my Radion.

I used a Kregg Pocket hole jig and some 90 deg clamps. (My apologies if pictures are out of order).

Next comes the scape…Going with LifeRock Nano Tree kit and added some extra pieces too. Soaked the rocks for a few weeks in saltwater.

Added 3/4” plywood “arm” on the back of the stand to mount the radion. I don’t like the idea of mounting directly on the tank wall.

Also secured the stand to the wall. I have two young sons.

Built a removable false wall to hide the wire mess (using earth magnets to hold it in place). Had some 3D printed mounts made. Added some cheap motion sensor rechargeable lights.

Keen eyes may notice the RFDI cabinet lock in the right upper corner. Did I mention I have two young sons…

That is one good looking stand. The false wall is a great addition to hide all that wire mess and the aquascape looks great too!

Setting up the RO/DI system in the basement. Time to make some water. I still need to build a water change station. I need help putting together a list of plumbing parts. I am using a 5 gallon Brute can for RO/DI reservoir. Thinking uniseal with 90 deg elbows and ball valve. Just gotta figure out all the plumbing lingo to get the right pipe and fittings.

Time to get the tank wet!

I have been keeping Nano reef tanks for over 10 years and I have rock and a clownfish from my very first tank.

This Waterbox is going to be the clowns new home and an upgrade from a Nuvo 10 Gallon tank.

I am moving the rock, fish, and coral all over at once. I am viewing it as a big water change. I plan to have no cycle.

Tried some larger grain sand…did not like the look. Went back to a smaller grain that I have used in the past.

Corals, Rock (on the lower left side), and fish are moved over. More corals to move soon. Will keep an eye on the levels. Again, expecting no cycle.

I ordered an OG Holy Grail during the Black Friday sales. Excited to add that to the tank.

I used a pocket hole jig and 90 degree clamps to keep everything squared. It was not too bad. I can give you more details as needed.
