Hi all,
I lived in Madison, AL...
I’m planning to buy a RO/DI water system... what is your recommendation for the quality water we get around here?
Thanks,

Well, it really depends on the size of your system, evaporation rate, frequency and amount of water changes, etc. However, if you're looking for a nice little system @dantimdad , who is not far from you in AL, recently set up a Aquatic Life RO Buddie with DI and Aquatic Life Smart Buddie booster pump. He gets about 60gpd and is very happy with it.

Sorry... I should have give more information.
This is a new build I’m working on.
- Tank is a IM 25 lagoon (it’s not really 25gal... more like 18)
- evaporation rate, I would say 1/3 gallon a day.
- I’m not sure
about water changes yet
I would take a look to the AquaLife.
Thanks,

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the RO Buddie will be a good fit. @dantimdad is using one for his 93 cube and, as previously mentioned, digs it.

BTW - is the "68" part the year you were born?

It's a great unit. I am getting closer to 80GPD out of it. But, it's time to change the DI soon I may upgrade to a separate Cation and Anion to save money and last longer. I already have the canister setup to do it.

I use the LiquaGen 4-stage portable from Amazon. It was ~$60, works great, the filters only need to be changed once a year, and it makes about 5 gallons of clean water every 45 minutes. The DI resin however (last stage) needs to be changed more often, I’d say every 60 gallons of clean water (or every 300-400 gallons total water thru it), and it’s only $20 to replace the DI resin.

I'm on Madison water. They use chlorine. Have a smart buddie pump with 2 RO filters in series to save water. Go through very little DI resin. Probably over-kill for your situation, but it works great. I have a small system under my sink that does DI and drinking water. It has a reservoir tank with it, so it can output 2 gallons of ro/di fast to fill a reservoir, but then it slows to like 30gpd.

AquaticLife units, such as RO buddy and Twist-in RODI are fine for the size of your tank. If you are going to upgrade to a larger tank in future, I think the full size 5 stage unit, such as those from BRS or other reputable source, will be better because of their larger size DI unit and dual carbon filters. I am using AquaticLife twist-in RODI unit right now because of the ease of changing filters. When I used to use a 100 gallon/day 5 stage unit, changing the sediment and carbon filters regularly every 6 months extended the life of RO filter greatly. I liked the dual carbon block filters. I have only one carbon filter now. However, it is doing its job well enough. Check out the BRStv Investigate series videos. They have great information on RODI and a variety of other topics, such as this: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/vide...r-psi-for-reverse-osmosis-system-performance/

Thank all for comments and ideas..

I was not sure if Madison water use chlorine...
‘Fosin’- By any chances do you have some pics of the under the sink system?
I like the idea to have a
small system.

I just begin cycling tank and I don’t really know what my water usage will be.

Madison water uses chlorine but not chloramine.
If you don't intend to upgrade your tank to a larger size (like many of us do) or get the multi-tank syndrome, RO buddie would suffice. Its dimension is supposedly 7.2 x 4 x 13.8 inches ; 3.1 pounds.

It's like this one:
https://ebay.us/nqLpQG

It keeps the reservoir filled with RO filtered water. There are 2 outputs. One comes though the DI and one through the taste filter. The reservoir water comes out at 300+ gpd.

That's a full size RODI system. The one that Harry is selling is about the same size without the large tank for the drinking water faucet. AquaticLife RO buddie is much smaller and does not come with the drinking water setup. I used to have one under the sink. Having it under the sink makes it difficult to change filters. You have to crawl under the sink or bring the system out to change filters. The DI resin canister was dang near impossible for me to open. Mounting it on a wall made it a lot easier to change filters.

Thanks Tomoko,
With all multiple options; I think I will wait a little bit until I figure out how much water I will need on a regular basis (for now... I will continue carrying buckets).

BRS 6 stage here, with booster pump connected in our laundry room. I’m on Harvest Monrovia water, no chloramines, just chlorine. I like having the tds meter with multiple test points so I know when to change di resin.
