Rhomboid sick/hurt?

Now one of my rhomboid seems to have same symptoms as my exquisite wrasse. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/sick-exquisite-wrasse.589849/ . They both seemed fine Sunday April 28th and yesterday I noticed it being blown around by the wave maker. So now it's in hospital tank being treated with general cure, metroplex and epsom salt. I did see smaller pink margin wrasse chasing the rhomboids. I guess my question is, other than being bullied, what can cause this?

One thing about your treatment. General cure has metro in it. I think you know that and are likely alternating the meds, just making sure though.

I have wrasses, but am certainly not an expert. But I keep wondering what kind of top you have on your display. Is it a small clear mesh that they will rebound softly when they jump? Or is it hard so they get get injured when they jump? Obviously I’m wondering about injury here.

You didn't happen to feed the other wrasses the medicated food, did you? If the exquisite was suffering from advanced internal flagellates... it is unfortunately transferred from fish to fish by them eating each others feces. I would treat all the fish with food soaked in GC (or metroplex) + focus.

Although, injury from aggression is another very possibly likely scenario... fairy wrasses don't always tolerate conspecifics, and the pink margin is generally much higher on the "aggression-scale" than the rhomboid and exquisite wrasses which are some of the most timid.

^Agreed, I would use the general cure OR metro... not both. And, injury from hitting the top, or darting into rocks to avoid aggression is also a very likely cause of spinal injury.

Didn't know that, I'll do 50% water change when I get home tonight.

I've been feeding all the fish with food laced with gc or metroplex+focus, alternating.
I went by temperment but unfortunately I found out about the conspecifics later.

How long have you been feeding the medicated food now? If it's been at least a week, then I think that physical injury is probably the cause :( Unfortunately, besides putting it in an acclimation box or another low-stress low-flow environment, and waiting to see if it recovers... there is not much more you can do.

Ever since the exquisite wrasse incident, April 25th, general cure. I got metroplex and focus May 1. I moved two smaller pink margin to smaller tank. I will be moving the big one to smaller tank as well and keep them there for a week or two and just keep the smallest one and sell/trade the other two. The big one seems to be too smart to go into the trap.
