Maybe a simple question, but how do you rinse your testing kits. Do you use ro water or tap water, and will tap water give odd results when you next text?

I rinse with tap, and put the cap on. I then rinse it in tank water before I test.

Most instructions on test kits indicate to use RO. My best answer with test kits would be that I read the instructions and sometimes watch a YouTube video if the manufacturer or a reputable source has one. It’s surprisingly easy to overlook details.

RO water is most often used for tidying up any elements of tanks prior to storage because it tends not to leave any residues behind whereas tap water may be “hard” and leave stains making it harder to view test results down the road.

Happy reefing!

It is never wrong to rinse out test equipment with RO/DI water, and depending on what is in your tap water, the residues that dry onto the inside can be an issue, both from actual chemical added, or from residual deposits making the walls of optical vials less clear (e.g., Hanna cuvettes).

This Rick Mathew Article give a good visual on rinsing.
