Reed. Best way is not the easiest but the proper way to do it would be to remove the skimmer cup drill and tap it for threads and thread in a 1/4" nylon barb found at the hardware store. From that you use 1/4 vinyl hose to go into a jug of some sort be it a milk jug or a 5 gal bucket. You will want to secure the hose in the jug by drilling the cap of the jug to fit the 1/4" hose. If that is not within your ability you may be able to have a acryllic shop like TAP plastics do the hard parts for you or bribe a better more equipted friend or even ask the local fish store or maintenance service if this is some thing they can do for you. Otherwise leave the skimmer off and do a water change before and after your vacation, test water as well to insure ph,alk, cal, mag and phosphate is in normal range before you leave. Maybe the fish feeder (person) can be trained to empty the skimmer cup or perhaps bribe a neighbor with some food. Good luck. Michael
