Why do you think you cannot feel 24v DC?

Any kid sticking their tongue on a 9 v battery will tell you otherwise.

feel yes sir. but It requires a becoming part of the circuit. DC should go only back to its self, and no pathway "should" be present in the system to do that.
the tongue is more sensitive just like the cut....
not sensitive ,conductive enough to become part of the circuit

Its virtually imposible for a switch mode power supply to fail rendering mains to the secondary out.

Yes you are correct. The power supply is current limiting, so 24V DC at 1A, put it on your tong and it will likely tingle, probable quite a bit less than a 9v DC battery though, as the battery can supply greater current.
But, cut your finger, put the 24V DC direct into you tank, I bet you wont feel anything, other than the salt stinging... I haven't tried, but be my guest :)
we regularly use 1000w ac to 20,000w ac incandescents. In wet locations or pools n ponds we use DC. then stand in the pool:).

I do not know the ins and out of ac and dc current. All I know for 100% the rw-8's were giving the cut on my thumb an electrical shock. When I unplugged them the shock feeling would go away. It definately was not the salt stinging me because when I put my thumb in the tank to test what was causing it, it would only happen when they were plugged in. Believe me, I didn't want to get rid of the pumps, since I only had them for a little under a month.

I just wanted to give anyone a heads up who had these pumps that it is worth checking the water for stray voltage.

Where did you buy them? Amazon I hope? If so, amazon is very good with services and I am sure you can exchange them. I have an rw4 in my tank and used to have rw8 and they don't shock.... yet

But you didn't even check for stray voltage! Can't say they are shocking without verifying with a cheap multimeter

Same thing happens to me and my tank...when I get cuts on my hand or fingers. I don't know a thing at all about electricity. It doesn't happen though when I wear sandals or shoes...only when iam bear footed on the carpet and sticking my open cut hands in the tank. I've tried using only one source of device plugged into the tank and testing my finger In the water to determine which device is causing it but can't diagnose it. I have RWs and MPs also and other sources.... I stopped caring because it's an all SPS and tang tank only and nothing seems bother. Everything looks amanzing and growing. I have two other tanks and nothing stray in those tanks. But iam still lost at what's happening...

Is it on a GFCI outlet?

Next time you get a cut, try and unplug the RW's and see if it goes away. Same thing with the sandals or shoes for me, I would wear them and nothing, take them off and I would feel it again.

I guess actually getting shocked was enough for me.

Is it on a GFCI outlet?

At the time it was not but the next day I went out and bought and installed one.

Did you test the "shock' with the GFCI on? Question is does it trip a GFI when you get shocked?

I've tried it without the RW and I still have it. I don't know where the source is coming from or if it happens when I use multiple sources at once. I also run RW on the two other tank and nothing happens to me but there are less electric sources in those other two tank. I just use surge protector and nothing gets tripped.
