Been in the hobby for exactly a year. All is going well...

Come home today see my OG bounce mushroom has unattached itself from its frag plug and I have absolutely no idea where it is.

Spent an hour looking for it and no luck...

Not sure what to do. I know it didn’t get into the power head for sure because it was placed on the bottom corner of my tank. I fear that it’s possibly under the main rock structure in a cave or something.

Right now I’m just hopping with time it’ll eventually appear or it’ll grow over the next couple months and I’ll be able to see it.

Sigh....:(

I bet if you sleep on it and look in the morning, you will find it.

These things will happen. This hobby can give and this hobby can take from us. It just goes to show how difficult life can be in the ocean. Creating your own ecosystem is something of a bit of magic and is special. It’s challenging and will challenge us all.

Hang in there and don’t give up. We learn from these situations, improve and move on. It’s all we can do. We’ve all spent too much time and effort getting to where we are today to just give it up.

It will turn up, I have several mushrooms drifting around in my smaller tank. Hey maybe it’s a blessing in disguise, maybe it’s laying babies all over your tank!

Was this a recent acquisition? If so, for shrooms I'd recommend keeping them in a shroom box or a container with a lid (and small holes of course) with rock rubble until you known it's definitely attached. Then glue the rock rubble it's attached to your rockwork.

Shrooms that detach will float around until they land in a spot of little flow. Try briefly turning up your power heads to stir up any dead spots and maybe it will flush it out.

Unless they go under the base of the rock Into a cave where I highly suspect it is

Update... lifted up the giant rock structure and didn’t see it... kinda have hope that maybe it’s still somewhere else in the tank

Might be under the other rock structure but I’m not gonna bother moving that today don’t wanna stress my fish anymore

Mushrooms tend to go where they want to go. If it did go into a hole - it will eventually come out - and move to where it wants to go... Hopefully it will be ok.

Day 3... still hasn’t appeared
Turned over lots of rocks all day yesterday and found nothing.

Now
I’m thinking maybe it’s buried in the sand...
