Salinity Probes that work with the Apex

It's just so weird, I can't even find one single Conductivity/Salinity probe on there anywhere that's made by anyone. It's like every single one has been taken off the site.

I haven't seen anything, and I keep checking Ali Express quite a bit. What is happening? Why are these so hard to come by? you'd think Conductivity probes would be just as easy as say a pH probe.

can corner on that -- and they are 56 dollars shipped right now -- (4 pin)

I can confirm this probe works perfect,
I just ordered 2 of them. I have an Apex EL that has an Apex PM2 module connected to it. I assume that this probe will plug right into the PM2 port?? Just want to confirm. Thanks.

Correct I was able to snag one when it was 56 dollars (before we all find out about them) they are 91 like u said right now

Exactly, as I stated much earlier in the thread, where you mount them matters, a lot.
Actually - as far as I know (and I gave up my Apex salinity monitor months ago) - it's the ORP probe that is affected by cords. I may be wrong - the salinity may also be affected - but to me thats a bad product.

I am in the fence of purchasing one for my next build. I enjoy reading these threads, but it doesn’t help! It’s still seems split down the middle. I don’t want to control equipment, just monitor for power loss, failure, and the probes would have been nice if they worked!!? Just still unsure of a $800 investment that doesn’t help the tank functionally (filtration, lighting, water movement).
I lost 2 tanks due to a controller failure. IMHO people rely on them too much, and beyond being an expensive surge suppressor - I found that they were unreliable. When you're on vacation - or out of the house - alerts did not always work, etc. etc.

Sorry to side track. I don’t have Apex but seems to be a lot of people with salinity probe experience here

I need one with a BNC connector. Shockingly I can’t find barely any on Amazon or anywhere, and the ones I find are 150$ And up

I find it hard to believe these aren’t 50$ My alk controller had an add on module for $50 and it INCLUDED a salinity probe for free. Well I dropped it and looked for a replacement and am shocked at the prices.

Id simply buy another 50$ module just to get the probe, but they discontinued it from lack of sales

Do any of the probes for apex use bnc? Anyone know of a bnc probe at a good price ?

the only Apex probe that uses Bnc connector is the pH probe. and they aren't too expensive. I order generic replacment pH probes from Amazon that work great for under $30

Non apex uses a BNC salinity probe, namely hydros.

There were a few more BNC options out there, I believe they dried up post COVID and lack of demand. Could try an aliexpress probe, but the gotcha may be duty fees (tarrifs) which will kill any savings over buying local.

Ok folks thought I'd do a quick update. I purchased a couple of the conductivity probes from Ali Express. The seller assured the mini din connector now works with APEX. I am happy to report that IT DOES!! I took it out of the box, plugged it into my PM2 module, as I have an APEX EL. I calibrated it and it's up and running and reading the exact same ppt as my refractometer is. Here's a few pics.

Has anyone tried that probe with an Apex A3 Pro. it says on the new listing there is an issue calibrating it with the version.

"A buyer reported calibration failure with APEX A3 PRO!"
