Salt?

[JTO’s reef]

What’s the best salt on the market? Looking to make my own salt water and possibly up the salinity in my brine shrimp tank… any info appreciated

There is no best salt. There are pros and cons to nearly every mix, and if you understand them, they will lead to a great tank. I use normal IO for a variety of reasons, but if all other mixes were equally priced, I'd probably use 90% of them.

Know the down side of nyos pure salt?

I'd say that it is cost, and if you want a high alk mix, this is not the best choice (unless you supplement it).

If your just using it for brine shrimp then I'd reccomend IO. It would probably be the most affordable option.

I’d be using it for my mixed reef tank as well

I have tried many and they all work. Picking one close to the parameters you run is easy to do now with the variety we have at our disposal.

Then honestly it's your call. Most, if not all, of us pick a salt that's affordable and matches the tank parameters we like.

I use plain instant ocean. Ive tried a few others but always end up back at IO. Its cheap and just works.

I love Red Sea blue bucket. There are many great salts. I run lower alk and it mixes the elements right to where I like to keep them.

Plain instant ocean here. I use my old water from water changes to hatch brine shrimp. I just dilute it down with rodi.
