Saltwater mixing station question

Does anyone know if the vertical water tank colors play any role in bad water, such as accelerated algae growth or anything weird. I can find a descent priced green chem container at HD for a good price, they also have black but I know that clear is what most everyone uses. Wanted to see if anyone has had experience or knowledge about this. I’m sure it’s probably fine but wanted to get a discussion going. Here is what HD has. Shipping online for these tanks are extremely pricey, and trying to avoid that.

…and btw and while you are at it…I know you didn’t ask but if you were thinking about adding a heater, perhaps get another 2nd powerhead or pump in lieu of .. It will add plenty of heat by itself plus mix

Thanks, i was surprised to find this price. Shipping for most places are anywhere from 100-300, def not worth it. That’s a great info about the power head.

My thought about the green vs the white is, I used to mix and store in a brute grey, never had algae growth or tank crashes due to
Something brewing up. Kind hard to pass this deal up

Algae generally grows faster in clear containers compared to green ones because clear containers allow more sunlight to penetrate, which is essential for algae growth;

Even though all of our mixing containers are inside, I’m guessing green is prob better. Light is light, and sounds like green will pretty much block it out. Only issue is not seeing where your water level is. So I guess this HD find for the win?

That's a great find! I wish those were around 2 years ago when I did my build! My display and sump system is around 300+ total gallons. I have two 65 gallon storage tanks... I think 65 gallon tanks or possibly a little bit larger are better if you have larger volume system. Just less salt mixing... 55 would be a little small for me. If they have 65G for a similar price, go for it... you may appreciate the little bit of extra storage.

You could build a float that has a stick on it that protrudes from the knock-out hole in the top cover? Just an idea... Or if you have an apex, you could get the water level sensor stick.
