Do your Acro's argue over encrusting space. I have a few that are attacking each other.
Its because Cyano is uptaking the phosphate. By the time you test, it'll read very low, doesn't mean you might not have a phosphate issue. I'd run the GFO for a few months and see what happens.Well cyano is growing like crazy on my sandbed. Stays away from rocks and any corals, but it's a terrible eye sore. I finally starting running gfo thinking it might help, but after testing phosphates I'm not sure it will. :/
Hannah is so inconsistent, it gave me a reading of 5 and 9. So my phosphates are between .015 and .027.

FWIW, phosphate meter has a +/- of 0.04 ppm. We're taking hobby grade kits here.
I think the GFO combined with using red slime remover is an excellent way to get rid of the immediate issue of Cyano on the sandbed while getting rid of the source issue as well.Yea that's why I never test phosphates.
Second week running gfo, like you said I will keep running it consistently for a few months and see what happens. I'm even considering changing my light cycle, maybe that + phosphates is contributing to cyano growth.
Or just take the dang sand bed out. No sand bed looks nicer than a sandbed full of cyano. :/
One tidbit of advice I use with the Hannah ULR Phosphorus checker to help get more consistent results is to use any hard water stain cleaner to clean the vial before testing. It gets any water stains or leftover residue etc off the inside of the curvet.
