So I’ve had 3 sea anemones in my tank, two I haven’t seen in months, so I grabbed another one yesterday. Drip acclimated him, set him on a rock gently.. now this is what he looks like..
Is this normal? Should I flip him back over?

I don’t understand why I have such a hard time with sea anemones in this tank. Frustrating.

How old is your system?

I would gently grab it and stick it on the rock, see if it will attach.

Its a bad sign when they don't use their foot. I would refrain from letting it sit in the sand any longer or risk further issues.

Age of tank?
Flow?
Parameters?
Light?
Anything that could be bothering them?

Ok I’ll do that now. I set him on the rock when I first got him, not sure if the clowns pushed him off or if he moved. My other sea anemones moved to the back of the tank behind rocks months ago and I haven’t seen them sense.

He’s back on the rock.

If you only added this one just yesterday I have to question whether it was a healthy specimen to begin with.
Is it an acclimation issue?
I drip acclimated, can’t get much better than that. I would agree with it not being healthy from the store but this would be the 3rd one I’ve tried to keep and lost.

Can see him in the bottom middle in this picture.

2 years, flow is good on each side where the sump pushes out, middle is meh.
Light should be good. I mean there’s a light bar from one end to the other.
Nothing that should be bothering them, API kits are spot on. Salinity. Temp. All seems perfect to me..

If it's not a healthy specimen to start with acclimation could be enough to put it over the edge. It doesn't look like a healthy anemone it looks bleached. What kind of anemone is it? Looks like a Sebae almost?

API kits are usually inaccurate; I would ditch those kits and get Salifert, Hannas, or RedSea kits.
You say temp and salinity are perfect; what are the numbers?
How are you testing salinity in your tank?

Noted, I’ll look into those kits.

Refractometer reads 1.025
Temp reads 80 on two different thermometers.

It’s a Sebae

Need to nail down what specific lighting you have. I don't see corals? Anemones need pretty decent lighting. Cheaper LEDS are not going to cut it.
Not sure if these are good, came with the tank 2 years ago.

Anemones can be tough to keep in general so it is not surprising you are having a tough time. In my experience sebae anemones can be extra tough to keep alive. What kind of anemones were the other two?

You also should probably gain more experience with some corals before trying to keep any anemones as well. When you do try to keep any anemone again, start with an aquaculture bubble tip anemone first. You will be much more successful.

Also, from the looks of it you need better lighting.

Hopefully this comes across as helpful like I am intending to be! I have no idea of your experience level.
