Howdy...I have had my sebae anemone for approximately 6months in a tank that has been established over a year....Yesterday I noticed that it had moved from its normal space over to a quiet corner...And today I see this...Several tentacles with flesh attached have dropped off and an entire part of the body is dangling....The mouth is intact and tentacles a little deflated but some are starting to inflate again...the main piece is dangling but there are 2 other pieces on the sand that have flesh and a couple tentalces on them...so could potentially end up with 3 new nems? Looking for ideas on this type of nem budding like this....Tank parameters are:
100 gallons mixed reef
pH 7.9
Alkalinity 9.75
Nitrate 12.1
Calcium 490
Phosphate .05
Magnesisum 1500 (I increased a bit as I am battling a little bit of hair algae)
Temperature 78.9

I keep BTA’s but my experience with splitting does not look like this. They basically just pull themselves apart and look like normal the next day. This looks more like mechanical damage to me. I have had a drifting Nem go through a power head and then look like this more or less. It grew back from a single mouth less tentacle with some body attached to the end.

so honestly not sure what’s going on here but it doesn’t look normal to me.

time will tell. Leave it alone and monitor. If it dies try and remove it.

So not sure what it is doing... Not mechanical damage.... Maybe stung from a falling coral or nipped by fish /shrimp... I am leaving it alone, letting it do its thing... Tonight took a piece of food when I broadcast feed the tank.. Also dosing small amounts of cipro... The dangling piece has fallen to the sand and still Appears to have viable flesh... The oral disc is still intact...

Yes. Looks terrible. I’m not too hopeful for this. Monitor it closely so it doesn’t fowl your tank. If it comes off the rock snd drifts around it’s time to remove it.
