How dangerous is the ink to the tank. In a 46 gallon tank with about 40g of water. I only passively run carbon over the drip plate, 100ml bagged. But it does tumble. real world experience with the ink appreciated, or with using them.

Running carbon will help, but the ink is pretty toxic. I would not have one in my tank.

Umm I have honestly never had them kill anything. They only ink if hurt. Mine died "peacefully" and the small amount of ink that leaked out postmortem didn't seem to bother anything. Your biggest problem would be a powerhead or incompatible fish attacking the thing. They are amazing grazers. It is hard to keep up with their food needs.
