So I've had it for about 3 weeks just as a tester frag and I'm noticing that parts of the top are turning white like this. This still has polyp extension however and I was wondering if I should be worried. When I first got jt vs now here too

It should also be mentioned that a few air bubbles got caught underneath the frag before

The frag has been relatively happy and has had good polyp extension. All the tips are white but the entire branch here seems as if its dying. The polyps on it are still open

Youre setosa looks orange like mine. Mine was actually more red when I bought it. Ive only had it a few months so Im not real familiar with this coral. I did read however that a setosa turns orange in higher lighting. You may be bleaching yours because to much light.

Do you have an urchin? Mine gets like that sometimes, and I suspect my long spine urchins are responsible for it. Eventually, the coral regrows over the white spots, only for it to happen again in about another month or so. The white areas always look scraped to me (hence my suspicions about urchins!)

I've caught my long spine urchin also eating my setosa. I agree the eaten places look scraped and begin to grow back over in less than a week.

White/burned tips can be a sign of high alkalinity and low nutrients. Your parameters look fine to me though. Is it turning white at the base as well?

Do you see any pests on it? I'd google Montipora eating nudibranchs and see if you can spot any.
I don't see any. All my other montis seem fine and I dipped before. Maybe there were eggs on it? The rainbowloom and toxic slimer are fine and all the other montis seem fine. Just this one part

Hmm, interesting. You could try dipping again or wait to see if the coral begins to improve. In my experience, my setosa shows damage fairly easily if it is bumped or scraped but usually heals over within a couple of days.

How is it looking today? The pictures do look like RTN unfortunately. I've never had much luck stopping RTN.
It was doing perfectly fine. I think it could of been from the store since one area was completely dead. Think its too late for this piece?

How high in the tank is it? Mine likes lower light. Also, Setosa are pretty hardy. If there's no sign of critters like Monti Eating Nudis I'd move it lower in the tank. Mine likes partial shade and decent flow.

This one was dying in my last tank. I moved it over to my new tank and it started healing and has almost regrown over all the dead areas. Don't toss it. You can always frag the dead portions off to stop any spread of infection if it's RTN.

I'm gonna redip the montis. The cap is acting weird and the setosa along with the digis. The acros are fine. Id only get a 1.5cm frag but ill try to if its doing OK. It has medium flow and about 175 par atm. The acros are getting 210 peak and the montis are getting between 150 to 250. I'm slowly ramping up light

Are the caps doing the same thing? Monti Eating Nudis start at the edges and work inward... I know, I threw away all the montis in my 75 because of them. :angry-face:
