Added a wrasse without quaranting 2 weeks ago and I think it spread something to my tank. The wrasse looked healthy for a few days, then it went under the sand and i havent seen it since.

About a week ago I started seeing symptoms on a few of my fish, which progressively gotten worse, with ups and downs of visible symptoms. Everyone is eating vigorously still. I thought it was ich at first but im not sure now..

Anyone have ideas on identity of disease?

Also looking for treatment opinions.

I have metroplex, kannaplex, nitrofurazone, prazi, and seachem cupramine. I only have an api copper test kit rn, so I ordered a hanna one which I should arrive monday.

Ive got a 40gal tank running empty rn also.

My inhabitants rn are 2x maroon clownfish, 3" yellow tang, 3" bristletooth tang, 4" burr pufferfish and a 2' snowflake eel.

Please let me know, thanks!

There is sound but no image. You tube version video is best.
Velvet is a gill disease and signs will be heavy breathing, swimming in path of water flow and loss of appetite at times. Ich always starts with dots and increase in number daily

Here are the videos uploaded.

There is nipping on the tang's fin and with the shimmer from light, images are distorted making it hard to see anything

The videos are very corrupted but from what I can tell there seems to be a lot of stress in this tank. Can you please test and post water parameters. This can also help us determine. The still shot of the tang does look like there’s nipping going on and it’s possibly the puffer what other fish are in this tank?

Sorry about the videos. Hopefully these uploaded better. If I had to guess, id say the maroon clownfish are the ones nipping. The puffer leaves everyone alone from what i've seen.

I have a yellow tang, 2x maroon clown, 1x bristletooth tang, 1x burr pufferfish and a snowflake eel.

I guess I'd say Ich as well....looks really heavy on the clown maybe just due to his slime coat.

If you can remove and treat them, that's going to be the recommendation.

If you cannot remove them, you're in for a tough road I think, the options in-tank are much more limited. You will at least need to deploy strong UV and micron filters (micron filtration may be more effective than UV if it's really Ich – do you have a microscope?), but something like Ruby Reef's Rally and Kick Ich would also be an option.

You also need to do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to remove stress from the display tank, or things will only get worse even with treatment. If there is any chasing or aggression, you have to remove the offender or the target – one of them, preferrably the agressor, has to go. But this goes for any excess stress in the tank (ie. over stocking, anything)....gotta go NOW.

Looks like ich heavy on that clown
Also are you running a skimmer. I see a film on the top layer of the water. can also stress the tank not helping the disease your fish have.
Test your water and post the results. Best of luck!

So - this is the trouble with double posts, they are very difficult to follow. I see here there is discussion about detritus in the tank, but that isn’t related to the disease issue.

What treatment method did you land on? You need to get the treatment started today. It can take 3 to 5 days for any treatment to work, and the disease will progress during that time.

Yeah I thought my first post got deleted or something because I didn't see it in my profile, I'd of deleted one early on if I figured out how to.

Right now im thinking leave the eel in and treat everyone else with copper and metroplex. I ordered a hanna checker and some copperpower which arrive tommorow. I have seachem cupramine and an api test kit right now I could use..

Ive got a 40gal ready im hoping to treat everyone together in.

Maybe i'll start catching everyone and start metro today, then ramp up copper tommorow? Might be too much stress moving with that much ich and no copper right away though..

What do you think?
