Thanks mate!

Don't be fooled by the pics they were taken straight after an overhaul lol.
Yeah I run chaeto in my pax, my LFS doesn't have chaeto either but one of the guys who works there gave me a handful from his tank a few months ago and it's still going strong. Let me know if you need any and I'll sort some out for you.
The power switch is great and it's like all the other RF gear where you get notifications if there's an issue, I'm really liking the RF gear I can't really complain tbh.
Haha I guess so, all that 'instagram perfect' stuff :P
Still looks great and a lot cleaner. My sump didn't look half that good when I did a bit of a clean a while back haha.
Oh that's good of them. If you really wouldn't mind that'd be amazing to grab some to try and get it up and going.

Yeah I like that you've got the tablet/ipad showing everything as well. Really cool way to have it all set up and makes it super easy to see where things are at. Really cool tech.
I think I've got my testing down to about 30-45mins per testing session but that's usually only once a fortnight now so whilst it's not bad, it's still something that would be nice to not have to do and have something checking more often.
Guess it's just down to taking the plunge and committing with a few things and then working it all together and building it up over time to include more things.

Yeah that was my plan with the Reef Factory gear, buying gear as I needed it and slowly building it up.
I now have 10 pieces of RF gear where they test/monitor parameters and it's great not having to worry about it, and as long as you keep the gear calibrated everything works fine.
The iPad is great and I'm even thinking of even putting it on the table next to the tank so I can always see the parameters :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Could maybe even stick it to the other side of the door so it doesn't take up additional space, but I guess you may have to worry about water damage if the fish like to flick water as much as mine!

That’s actually a good idea, the iPad is white so I might try it out and see how it looks.

Update:

6 weeks ago we moved house and the tank move went ok apart from chipping the tanks rear bottom glass on the ATO side :smiling-face-with-tear:
It doesn’t leak or effect the tanks integrity and it’s been running fine since, but I do plan on eventually epoxying it up as my LFS gave me a few tips from tank chips they’ve repaired.

Apart from that all the fish and coral transitioned fine and everything has been going good. I’m also going to take my Pax offline as the Chaeto hardly grows now and my nitrates constantly sit around 30. It’s more than likely user error but
I’ll let the tank run without it for a few weeks and see how it goes.

I’m also looking to upgrade to a Cade 1200 in a couple months, it’s a bigger tank with a bigger sump and has a refugium option.
The good thing is I can use all of my current tanks equipment without having to buy anything else, and the only thing I will do is swap out the ReefMat 250 for the 500 which I have in storage.

I’ll also be doing an 18 month tank update video this weekend and I’ll post it up here.
Happy reefing!

Glad the move went alright despite the minor chip. Doesn't look too serious which is good too.
Nice to see an update though!
Hey mate,
Yeah the chip isn't too bad I've seen a lot worse that's for sure, and once I fill it in it'll be all good.
The good thing about the move is we're now back on a concrete slab so hence the future tank upgrade :smiling-face:
I was contemplating going bigger but budget wise it just makes sense to go to a 1200 for now and swap the 900's equipment straight over.
Eventually my dream tank being a Cade 1800 peninsula will take place but it's the mrs I've gotta convince, hence why I'm slowly upgrading tanks 1 foot at a time! :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Haha yeah I can understand.
I managed to sell the bigger upgrade to the missus by suggesting it'll cost less in the long run if we just went straight to 6ft instead of bit by bit (plus being an animal person she wanted a big enough home for the fish to grow into). Took some convincing still though but got there in the end lol

At least your way the upgrades are bit by bit and is less of a hit at once. Upgrade tank.. slowly upgrade the gear in it so it potentially works in bigger tanks again... upgrade tank... rinse and repeat :P

I did think think about a 1500 or going straight to the 1800 but like you said it'll be a pretty big hit on the hip pocket upgrading all at once. Plus a peninsula is a whole different kettle of fish with it's layout design and that would take a lot of time sorting out, so a 1200 for now just makes sense.
I'll also keep an eye out on marketplace to see if I can find some deals.

Always good to see an update on this tank. You do a great job keeping on top of maintenance and keeping everything looking great. Envious! haha

Reminds me I've got to do some decent maintenance on mine. (pulling the pump out and the like to give them a good clean).

I find the gear performs better and lasts longer if it's well maintained, and with the price of stuff these days I don't want anything breaking on me lol. :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Update:

I went to my LFS today to buy a Reef Factory Pro X1 doser as I needed another line, I also had a few vouchers to spend so I thought I might as well put them to use.
Long story short they offered me a great discount on a Pro X1 and Pro X4 doser combo that I couldn’t refuse, so I ended up getting both :smiling-face-with-sunglasses:

The Pro dosers are next level compared to the basic RF doser I have, they’re silent, extremely precise and bi directional.
Both are up and running and I’m really happy with them, and I honestly should have gone with the Pros from the start.

I also added another Nero central on the back wall to get more flow towards the front of the tank where corals were lacking flow.
The 2 other Nero’s give great flow to the middle and top where the rocks and corals are but the rocks are positioned more towards the rear of the tank.

The 3rd Nero is on a lot less flow then the other 2 but it’s good to see the corals at the front of the tank swaying around more now.

Very nice tank.
Are you happy with your Mantis Tornado 150? I haven't been able to adjust it properly for one year. What's your water level in the skimmer compartment? What power did you set the skimmer pump to? Did you block the air intake with the screw on the silencer? What level do you set the bubble height in the cup to?
Thanks for your help, Stephane.

Hey there!
The mantis has been bullet proof for me over 2 years now and I’m pretty happy with it.
I run the skimmer on level 20 and set the water level where the red arrow is in the pic.
I don’t block the air intake at all and you don’t want to, I have mine nearly fully open.
Hope this helps.

Thanks you so much, I will try that. Just need two last information, what is the water height in your skimmer compartment? Did you have to raise the skimmer ?

No problem!
My sump water level is around 9 inches high and the skimmer is not raised at all.

Update:

A couple weeks ago I started dosing Red Sea 4 part along with NoPox and AB+ supplements, I wanted to try out a different brand from Quantum which I've been using for the last couple years to see if it makes any difference to my corals.
Talking to Red Sea they recommend not to run a refugium/algae reactor in your system if dosing 4 part as the chaeto will take up a lot of the elements and throw the system off balance, for that setup they recommend using 7 part.

The pax is now empty and offline and my tank is slowly starting to adjust to the new 4 part schedule which is surprisingly setup off 1 calcium test per week. Red sea obviously know what they're talking about so I'm happy to give it a go and so far my corals are looking good but they say it can take a while for them to fully adjust.

Also on the weekend I did my 6 monthly skimmer, pump and sump clean and they were all pretty filthy, I also added a copperband to help rid my aptasia that is getting out of control, he's settled and eating now and I've spotted him checking out the aptasia up close so hopefully he eventually gets to work.

And with my Cade 1200 tank upgrade I'm looking to do later this year, Cade unveiled the S3 series last weekend which will be coming out July/August this year. The tanks are euro braced with a new sump design and layout, poly carb lid and aluminium doors instead of glass. This has my interest so I will be looking closely at the details and specs when they come out, and hopefully the price isn't much more than the current S2 series.

Well a quick update on the Copperband, my aptasia is all but gone!
My zoa garden rock they had taken over is now coming back to life and I can see them all again, but lets just hope he now doesn't get a taste for my corals...😅
