This is a slightly different take I did for my mother's RODI system. She needed something portable that she can hook up to a garden hose to fill her RODI bin. I bolted the two filter rack together back-to-back with a plastic handle in between.

ooo I will join in! My house water is from a well which is pretty hard.. 240ish tds mostly calcium. I run the pressure around 70psi. It is a bit chilly though so that reduces output but I don't worry too much about it. It's filtered down to 1micron for the whole house.
Water goes through the RO. RO water goes through carbon and then to DI. Running cation then anion and final mixed bed for DI. Not so neat but it gets the job done. CaRx, ATO, AWC with DOS all in the same area.
sorry if this is a noob question, but what's the box shaped gizmo in your setup?

That is a Masterflex peristaltic pump to pull water through the CaRx. That unit has since died and I have a brushless model which is nicer and way quieter.

Not sure if I posted mine before. Here it is, fully automated via apex. It goes on when pressure is low, flushes membrane, boosts pressure, dumps initial production water, produces water, flushes membrane and goes to sleep only to repeat as needed. Has been running for more than 3 years on original membranes, rejection has not changed much so why change it. Because of low city TDS (40-50), and pre / post-flushing the membrane I am amble to go far longer than expected before changes. There is also no TDS creep because the system dumps initial 3 minutes of production. I'm still on the original 2 cans of DI media.

It is important to note that this fills both my RODI tank needs as well as drinking RO water needs for the household, filling a pressurized 14-gallon tank with drinkable RO water.
I now count # of gallons going through the system so I know when to change carbon blocks. We are long way from it.

At next media change I will convert this to a horizontal run and dedicate a 4-port APEX Jr. just for the RO/DI automation.

Seems the humble RO DI unit might be underrated as a piece of aquarium tech. Some of these set ups are very, very cool! 😎 Question-- is there some flexible, rubbery, 1/4 RO type tubing on the market? More like hose, than tubing. I have an RO output line that I use to fill water jugs and whatnot for drinking and coffee making. It would be nice if it could be on a retractable reel or at least coiled up for stowage.

I bought a stupid-dumb-expensive length of soft silicone tubing from BRS to go from my RO/DI storage tank, to my tanks, for water top-offs, etc. But I took the hit as a one-time investment, given how much I'll be fooling around with water over the life of the hobby.

Just finished my 7 Stage RODI set up, using lots of inspiration from R2R. It's got a plumbed-in dedicated cold water line, which permitted me to place it exactly where I wanted, including a local on/off valve. The wastewater line deposits water outside, with an option to drain inside during freezing weather. (Since my basement drain relies on a sewage pump, I bypass it when possible, to reduce wear on the pump and avoid potential pump failure during operation). I organized the 1/4" hoses using 3d printed fittings from Neat Aquatics and Fusionfab.ca. On the filter brackets, I swapped out the BRS stickers with engraved labels to look professional. Everything is mounted on a framed 3/4" birch plywood panel, varnished with Danish oil to look nice and mitigate water stains. I have two output lines, for either RO, or RODI. I think it looks pretty good.

That looks extremely tidy-- you should be proud of yourself. 😀
Haha! Thanks! I'm happy with it, but keeping an eye out for potential improvements. Switching to the Mixing Station project meanwhile. BTW, my previous post shows version 3.0, here is the OCD-triggering original configuration. 😆
