Has anyone tried to utilise the ato reservoir that comes with the Reefer 450 as an Kalkwasser storage container to dose kalk using drip method WITHOUT using the existing hole provided by redsea on their ato...I did this last night to compensate my 2 part dosing and to keep my pH stable. I am not using the kalkwasser through my external ATO but just using the redsea ato tank to hold the kalkwasser and drip dose it using Tom's aqualifter along with Apex using OSC function...I have plucked close the hole on the reservoir using an air tube ball valve...

Exact same connection as your return that has a nipple. You can get them from redsea. Then order 3/4” threaded male to slip schedule 80 fittings. Wrap about 10x with Teflon tape.

This is the new style return adapter. Had to replace mine on my 525xl. I had a 3/4" threaded into my old one. Is it still doable with 3/4" and teflon
Thanks

Are you suggesting putting the external magnet on the inside of your overflow? I like the idea! But if that popped open and started rusting into the water you wouldn't know it until you had a real problem on your hands. I have one of the ice caps wedged between some rocks low in my reefer 525. Running a bare bottom it helps keep the detritus moving.
I never tried it but heard Ryan and Randy speaking directly to this point on a live stream leading into Thanksgiving. The Gyre Magnets are apparently laser sealed and mounting inside the overflow is not a problem. Until of course it is a problem! Curious to see how it works out if anyone tries it though.

laser welding is common in a lot fields. for our purposes it generally provides a weaker seal that can be compromised, versus using proper solvents.

scroll towards the bottom of my magnet article and you'll see some products that were laser welded. ;)

Made from 100% high quality, cast acrylic, these baffle kits will give your V1 Red Sea sump separate skimmer and refugium area. The kits utilize my renown Octo Pods™, with the strongest neodymium magnets available, along with the very strict quality control standards I use to make the pods. These are absolutely the most secure, toughest Red Sea sump baffle kits available. Fully designed and made by myself, these kits are also adjustable in case there are any dimension variations from the manufacturer.

I use N52 neodymium magnets. Rare earth magnets are not reef safe on their own, so I fabricate custom acrylic pods that encapsulate the magnets and keep them away from your water. Please visit the magnet warning page for more information on these magnets.

Most of my products are made to order and BY HAND! Please allow 10 days for fabrication time (longer for Octo Lids™) Shipping prices listed are to the contiguous U.S. Please contact us if you live elsewhere and want a shipping quote.
