On @SuncrestReef build thread he posted Red Sea will quit making part #42221 that the barded part can be screwed off. The new ones will be glued on. Does anyone know anything about this? You better get them before they disappear.

It's my understanding that Red Sea changed that fitting when they started shipping the v3 sump models. I got one of the last v2's just before they offered v3. I don't know for sure that they're not making the part anymore, but I just heard people were unable to unscrew the barb on v3.

It’s been a couple of years it seems since Red Sea started shipping the V3’s. I bought a couple parts 42221 and thought I couldn’t get the barb part off. I had a helper and together with a strap wrench and big crescent we got them off.

Does anyone know what inner pipe that goes in this outer one? It’s the main drain. Part number on Fish Tanks Direct or Marine and Reef?

@OCDean What is that pod fuge? I tried Googling it and couldn't find it. Link?
Hey @powers2001 , thanks for your interest! It's a lifereef refugium and then a friend of mine made a decal on their Cricut for it. It's only a 10g and is probably a little undersized for my tank, but it was originally made for a 50g and then found its way to this setup.

Here's a link:

At Marine and Reef I need either Red Sea part 42209 or 42202. Anybody?
Looking at those two part #'s for a RSR 250/350 the only difference I can spot is the length by 2 1/4 inches.

I believe the emergency drain is the taller downpipe, and the shorter downpipe (42202) is for the main drain. Hopefully that's right.

Replacement Red Sea Reefer 250/350 Aquarium Overflow Downpipe. Length: 20-1/2". Red Sea Part # 42209.
Replacement Red Sea Reefer 250/350 Aquarium Inner Downpipe. Length: 18-1/4". Red Sea Part # 42202.

There is no such thing as a V2. Only V1 and V3. Comfirmed by tech support when i was inquiring about something.

Question for the Red Sea owners that have installed a UV. Where? lol...I have a 3XL900 ordered, and I'm trying to pick gear right now. For the Pentair UV's that are 43 inches....is there room anywhere in the sump area? Or does the middle divider prohibit that? For the 50 watt Pentair that's only 30 inches....but 6 inches in diameter, is there room to place this in front or behind the sump? How much room is there between sump and sides of cabinet? Ideas or pictures on how others have tackled this would be appreciated. I don't think I'll have room to mount outside the cabinet on the side...but could probably do one of the 3.5 inches behind the cabinet.

I don't have a 900, but the sump in my 650P is pretty snug in the cabinet. There's no way a 6" diameter tube will fit in front or beside it. You'll have to get creative with the plumbing if you want it inside the cabinet.

Would the 3.5" diameter tube size fit?

That's still probably pushing it. I have maybe an inch on all sides. If you look at Jeffcb's build thread a few posts up you can see what you're working with. The one thing to remember though it the front is a little deceptive as the doors are flush with the tank.

That frame looks terrible, it's like they went with what they could get away with in terms of aluminium profile sizes.
It does look a little flimsy. I don't like aluminum stands. Time will tell.

425xl has been enjoyable but frustrating at times. Learning very much as a new reefer .
Only complaint is how hot the light blocks/transformers get- a fan and aluminum heat sinks have helped.
