My valentini puffer. He’s been a bad boy lately, getting nippy with my poor betta
Such a handsome devilHere's my buck tooth fatty.
This is great man. What do you feed? Here's my buck tooth fatty.
One of these puffer show off threads should have a sticky!
I picked this guy up yesterday from my LFS. He just arrived and I took him home in the wholesalers bag. He was labeled as a canthigaster solendri, blue spotted Toby. He doesn’t look like what I expected. I think he is kind of ugly.
He is much lighter than other pictures I’ve seen. There is a lot more yellow and orange. His body seems almost misshapen with a protrusion above and behind his head, and his skin wrinkles when he bends. He is big, about 4 inches. He eats and swims well. Do you see anything I should be concerned about?

Thinking about offering clam on half shell to help with the bucktoothyness lol
He's in res with a bunch of snails, clams etc. Going to try the half shell to see if I can persuade and give a taste for him lol.I posted a thread about my problem with his teeth, this is the only puffer I ever had issues with, I'm still trying to figure it out. Do a search, some people feed snails, I don't know what kind though, start him young.
Buck Toothed Puffer
This is my 4th arothron puffer over a 30 year span, until now, I have never had a dental issue. Every puffer until this one, somehow managed to keep their teeth filed down. I think this one even gets more crunchy stuff that is usually recommended to help with this issue. The difference, this is...www.reef2reef.com
His faded coloring is likely due to stress and is also indicative of internal parasites. These guys do come in with internal parasites frequently, so treatment is highly recommended. If he is in a qt dosing the tank with general cure would be effective and the easiest.
Okay this is my plan. He is in quarantine now with CP. I just picked up general cure and give that once he is out of CP.
Thanks for making feel better that maybe I don’t have the ugliest puffer
I use tweezers with diamond dust files epoxied to ends for feeding. Keeps teeth in great condition. Easy to mix general cure with clam, krill etc for internal worms/parasites. No such thing as an ugly puffer. That’s like saying there’s such thing as an ugly bulldog.
