Correct, I left the hobby for 15-20 years and when I reappeared, Metal Halides were no longer the premiere lighting although I really wanted it. Equipment was hard to find, heat was always an issue. So now on my smaller tank back in the hobby I went with LEDs supplemented with T5s.
Lol

i think you mean you have T5 supplemented by LED

I guess it's a matter of which way you want to look at it, but since my T5s are used primarily to provide a good actinic supplement to my main light source (the LEDs), that makes my T5s a supplement to my main LED lights.

I was partially joking

I just feel you can get better results with T5 as primary, supplemented with led

either way your tank is growing and you are enjoying it so that’s what counts

i still Miss the old 75 gal MtnDewTank

it was inspiring back in the day

Two 250 ReefBrite Hybrid fixtures lighting a five foot tank, 14k Reefbrite on the left and Hamilton 10k on the right. Going to switch out the 14k for another Hamilton 10k.

I've been running 250 watt DE metal halides since January 2004 but I'm now finding the bulbs difficult to find so may have to consider changing, though I hate to. Still using original fixtures and ballasts too.

I hope someone can help me with a question. Can you use mh without a uv filter glass? And if so, has anyone used grow light fixtures on their reef?

Oh okay i thought you DIY ...

Are you still running halides? I'm having trouble getting into it due to availability

Sure am. There might be some updated pics in my build thread. Availability and is definitely dwindling but buying 5-7 years worth of bulbs isn’t terrible and I’m set for a very long time
