Many, many things happened since the last update.

First, I lost all my fish to a bacterial infection. I managed to treat the female clown which was the healthiest, but it just wasn't the same when I put it back in the tank. So, after I treated it again so it was eating and strong enough, I set it free in the ocean.

Next, I took an extra project last month to help pay the bills. That means I lost most of my weekend tank maintenance time. I also turned off my fan one rainy day and forgot to turn it back on for about 2.5 weeks. This caused the nem to shrink and bleach. But I've fixed that issue and have now been back to doing tank stuff now that my extra project is nearing completion(web stuff).

Also, during that time i accidentally broke a zoa branch (and fixed it), added a sixline wrasse that was promptly eaten by a gorilla crab which has since been removed, and added a porcelain anemone crab that is now happily living on the nem.

Hey great updates and nice rebounds from the ailments of using live ocean materials. extremely good diversity of suspended feeds and life forms (and pathogens yep) mostly that ocean water is great stuff, but its true without the dilution of the ocean and its inherent checks and balances those same imports can boon in a small aquarium.

this tank looks to be hand guided that's the part Id like to know more about its a big topic in my lifespan threads. Your sandbed looks matured and healthy and coralline spotted, but Id expect more waste loading in it, darker patches, if it sat under fish waste and was never ever disturbed. it looks to at least be hand cleaned at some point? tell me about sb maintenance if poss if any. if the sb has self-regulated that well, then awesome. and rare.

Most people want happiness and world peace, I just want a clean sandbed. :) I'm not sure if you noticed, but it's a little bit thinner now. I suck an extra thin top layer every time I do a water change, and my last water change I was extra aggressive and sucked more. I also stir it up from time to time to fragment the cyano and brown mats (dinos/diatoms). It's a long term battle keeping it clean, but after consistent weekly maintenance I eventually hit a sweet spot where my sand goes clear and all the algae dies off. That makes me lazy :) and repeats the cycle of it eventually getting dirty again and me keeping up the maintenance. :)

You caused this tank to be successful it wasn’t any form of luck. Action sequences spot on, and the tank has been pro since the start you could tell I was thinking that. Really glad for the thread reminder features too here.

So inspirational. I did a rip clean on my 29cube but didn’t keep up on my sand cleaning. Invaders came back and I’ve been using the chemical fix all solution.
Well tonight I will vacuum clean my gravel.
Xellos your tank is beautiful, and as Brandon said, due to your attention. I’m looking for a 10 to 15 gal after reading this thread. Simple is beautiful. Great job!

Thanks! It seems happiest when I don't use any adsorbing media. Now I only have "some rocks" in my filter.

I got a used AI Prime HD 2 days ago and started using the BRS ab+ setting. I find it very blue and "windexy" but if science says that's the optimal spectrum, then I'm willing to try it out. So far my LS have a positive response with the new light and settings. My current goal is to get the solid purple under-color of my Gigantea back.
