Skimmer crossroads...

So I currently have a Euro-Reef rs135 which I have been pretty happy with. I have it on my 125g mixed reef with a decent bioload. Total water volume is roughly 160-170g with fuge and sump. Recently I have been debating upgrading the skimmer and came across the bubble magus skimmers. I have done some research on them. From what I can tell everyone is happy with theirs and say they perform great. The model I am looking at is the bm200p and was wondering what people thought about it in comparison to my rs135.

Specs wise the 135 has a 6in body, uses a modified sedra5000, and pulls in 660lph of air. The bm200p uses a sicce psk2500 pump, pulls in 900lph while using needlewheel and 1200lph using mesh wheel, and has an 8in body. Just some simple specs. So, what does everyone think? Is the 200 an upgrade or downgrade?

I'd look at the SWC line of skimmers. I just got one the other day and that thing is awesome. It's one of the 250's with the askoll pump, might be a little much for your tank, but they make smaller size ones that would work.

The 250a is a little out of my price range. I do however like the 200 or poss. the 250. What does everyone think?

Looks like I may have to lean towards the swc. Does anyone know the body diameter?

The swc200 is 8" dia, 21" tall, 10x13.5 footprint 4" id neck, 900-950lph air with a pw. The 200p above is more like the swc160 extreme.

The swc is sounding more and more like the better option. You think it will be a def. upgrade from my rs135? Should I wait and save to buy the 250a?

I have ran the SWC and it is a great skimmer. I had mine on a 180 and never had any problems

I run the Octopus Extreme 200, same as the MSX. I like it very much.

Here is a little more back round on the tank as well. 125g display, 75g sump, 20g tall fuge. Stock wise right now I have a 6in yellow belly pacific blue tang, 8in blonde naso, 3 bartletts anthias (will be adding 3 more most likely),scooter blenny, mandarin, 4in mystery wrasse, and 2 picasso clowns. I would like to add a few more fish as well.

I run the Octo 180 and very happy with it. your size tank may need the 200.

I got mine(SWC200ext) from luke about a month and a half ago I love it. I have heard the magnus performs well but it is cheaply made. The SWC is solid and very small footprint. The only caveat is you need 8-10inches of water. SWC ALL THE WAY

I think you'll like the swc skimmer. I've never had a problem with mine

save your $$ and keep what you have. You have a good skimmer already
