Ok, I've set up my new Deep Blue 30gal frag tank with my older Euro Reef RS80 and I just am not satisfied with the production of the skimmer currently. It's about 6yrs old and I replaced the impeller with an ASM sedra needlewheel recently. It's just not getting the frothy white foam, just large bubbles that rise in the neck.

So got to thinking in the past 6 years there have to be better small skimmers out there, so its time to look! Looking for recommendations for a total water volume of about 45-50 gallons. Please do not say Tunze Nano skimmer 9002, have one with a broken pump. Never pulled great skim in my opinion on an older 29gal tank.

Give me your thoughts and opinions folks and thank you for sharing!

i run a swc 160 on my 50g
if i were you i would get a swc extreme 120...very nice skimmer, you can take the whole thing appart for easy cleaning, unlike other skimmers which are impossible to clean on the bottom.
skims great and is very well built.

oh and those cad lights skimmers are the same thing as bubble magus.
you can get a better skimmer for the same price of what they cost.

If you are on a budget look up the SC150 or SC 65 . They are eBay knockoffs of the swc and bubble magus . They are cone skimmers and can be had for $129 and $75 respectively . I ordered one (sc150)to have as a cheap back-up to my Bubble King . I read some mixed reviews on RC but for that cheap I had to . It also has a small footprint for in sump applications .
