I have this skimmer.

It's been in my tank sump with the hose attached to the cup for 2 weeks (While tank is cycling) to help slime up and prime the skimmer. In the beginning, with the cup plugged, it'd overflow like crazy, so I put the hose on and let the water recycle back into the sump (nothing in the tank for it to clean up at this time).

2 weeks later, I plugged the cup, it's not overflowing like crazy anymore, but it's still splattering water and making a bit of a mess from the top of the cup.

Gate valve is all the way open. when it's closer to closed, it'd overflow.

I want to make sure I have it positioned correctly? the exit valve is above the water line.. should this be under the water? half way?

any ideas how I can stop it from splattering?

I will give it a shot. need to get something to attach to an egg crate to raise it more.. gotta make a trip to the hardware store to get some pipes or something, lol
I almost guarantee that will do the trick :)
There should be instructions on the proper water body height.
If not I would hit the manufacturer up (that's what I had to do for my helix)

Tech spec's call for a depth of 7" to 8", so if its deeper than that you'll have a problem. I used egg crate and zip ties to make a platform. I would make it a little taller than needed, and remove a segment at a time to get it to the height you want. Once there, adjust the discharge to get the water level in the reaction chamber to the best height.

thank you! I actually just did that and seems to help. I might need to make it a little taller, but I want to see how it goes first.

Thank you Twillard, too!
