Can u get skunk tilefish without sand? Im trying to buy ine for my 150G. The guy selling it to me saying it doesnt need sand is that true? Can somebody tell me about theit behavior and if they do great with corals thanks

Tilefish create burrows in sand. Mine has an entire tunnel network under my rockwork and loves hunting the sand at night too. I probably wouldn't do it, especially since they're pretty shy and stress easily.

I’d personally go for sand with tilefish, they like to have a small burrow system under the rocks, I’ve had 3 Flashing Tiles and a Marcosi, each one has displayed this same behaviour.
This was my Marcosi, unfortunately in the upgraded he went face first into a mini maxi anemone after having a spasm around the tank.

Coral wise, they’re totally fine! Harmless to them, if anything they’re more likely to be harmed by coral than coral is to be harmed by them.

I pretty much gave up on having any sort of anemone in my tank with my tilefish after hearing your story.

Agreed about corals, the only thing mine does is to bury corals next to any of his entrances lol, he digs a lot!

They're also very prone to jumping, OP, your lid needs to be Fort Knox level secure.
