Snails In Skimmer

Ok, So we’ve had a 50 gal for around 6 months and we’ve had a few snails in other tanks for close to 8 months. We started seeing baby snails popping up on the glass in our tank over the past few days, But we didn’t think much of it. Our skimmer had also been acting up recently (kind of like what it’s like the first few days you have the skimmer) even tho nothing water level related changed. We pulled the skimmer out to clean it and found a bunch of baby snails in body, air intake and pretty much every part of it. We also started adding a 3 in 1 supplement very cautiously into the tank. Could any of these have messed up the skimmer?
