With freshwater do you need to worry about diseases as much as salt?
One can not worry about what one ignores.
I think that is Confuscious... or somethin. :p

Nice house and nice planted tank!

It was a planted freshwater tank that got me into the hobby. It's funny to think that back then I thought setting up and maintaining a FW tank was expensive because you ran CO2, hahahahahahaha (laughs in reef).

Back in the day, I got most of my information from the Barr Report (https://barrreport.com/), but I don't know how active it is anymore. It was a good resource for getting quality ferts.

Anyway, it's coming along great.

Such a beautiful build! Where did you get the rocks? In particular the one with the deep lines in it

Yes, I laugh every time one of the freshwater guys talks about high costs. They have no idea. lol
Although... i felt like the hardscape cost me a small fortune. For instance, the rock cost as much as really good live rock!
And the soil.... 6 bags at $50/bag. Yeesh.

Aquarium Design Group here in Houston.
They have huge bins of various rock. This bin was labeled Gray Mountain Stone. They also have Seiryu, Dragon Stone, and several others.

Looks great Dennis!

Where are you getting your fish and plants from? Locally, or online?

Thanks! All local. Hardscape materials, most of the plants and the Rainbows are all from Aquarium Design Group in houston. The other fish are from Fish Gallery.

Beautiful house and tank!
I started freshwater but only got into planted after doing a reef
I run a tiny 5 gal low tech planted for my old betta, he's almost 4 so I'm getting ready for him to pass soon, might put a single pea puffer in there or keep it betta IDK
I find it harder than a reef honestly and that's because the plants DO NOT STOP GROWING, in such a small space as a 5 gallon, they take over the whole tank in a few weeks and it's time to trim it so my betta can actually swim
Plants are crazy

I kinda had that problem with coral. HA! And then trying to figure out what to do with it. Plants I don't mind throwing away. haha Although, coral made me money. This planted tank is purely a money pit. :p

Here's my betta tank I set up recently. :)
