What causes this, too much or too little light?

I have a 40 breeder and I recently went from ati 6 bulb powermodules to 2 ai led. The ai are about a foot above my tank and is set at 14% all across the colors.

So does bleaching mean too much or too little light?

IMO, bleaching can happen with too much light, browning with to little. Sometimes you can use a few layers of eggcrate on top the tank for acclimation puposes, remove one each week untill you have full lighting.

Too much light can definitely cause bleaching. My sps were bleaching so I cut back my lighting schedule and they are coloring up again.

did you acclimate you tank and corals to the powermodule? or did you just flip the switch on the bad boy?

Just saying that maybe your alk or some other parameter might be off.
That can cause bleaching too from what I understand.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep, something one may not think about since the lighting seems obvious... good call.

Temperature could be another factor, I lost 3-4 nice frags when my therm. was off by 4 degrees or more.

very true one of the basic things of corals but easily overlooked. not just temperature in general but i think a big temp change could also do it. am i right?
