bought this frag and after it looked like it was starting to grow the back side of it looks like the back side has been ground down. Any ideas what this could be? First post but I tried to attach pics.

Chances are that the smooth side was receiving less light before you bought it.

Thanks for the response. I’m hoping that is all it is but I think it was pretty even all the way around when I got it. I’ve had it about 3 weeks and it still hasn’t colored up either. Hoping it’s not some kind of pest or my crabs eating on it. Weird how it’s only the back though.

Did you dip it with coral dip before placing it in your tank?

That one I did not. The other two I got later I did. Learned they needed dipping after the fact. Bad mistake now I know.

It doesn’t look like it’s lost anymore since I noticed the first time. I will dip it though.
