hey folks, I’m looking for some ideas on stocking for my 3 yr old 25g bare bottom mixed reef tank. I currently have 1 pair of clowns, over a year old and I did have a basslet until a few days ago, he got along well in the tank but unfortunately got himself wedged under a rock and passed. My clowns aren’t super territorial for the most part, but they are a bit picky of their company. they got along great with the basslet, but previously bullied a small blue chromis, a bengaii cardinal, and a dwarf goby. I also had a flame goby, however he died after jumping out of the tank thru the net somehow.

Essentially, I’m looking for ideas for 1-2 more fish for the tank, with the limitations of size, and not having sand, and not a bully but tough enough to be around the clowns. I am open to getting another basslet, but was wondering if anyone has any other ideas for a good relatively small 1 or 2 fish for the tank. I like fish that have a lot of colour or are interesting to look at, or funny character.

Thanks for any input! Pic of tank attached!

I counted 5 dead fish, personally I would try a new strategy...... either re-work the aquascape, or remove the clowns for a few days to let new fish acclimate, or use an acclimation box, or use a tank divider, or remove the clowns altogether and just pick new fish. But I think if you try to add a new fish you will likely have the same result as the other 5 times.

this was over the course of 3 years with different clowns as well, these fish have only bullied the chromis and bengaii

i did also revamp the rock work so the clowns haven’t picked their new spot yet, perfect time to add someone else in before they have a chance to pick their area.
